I was roaming around SM City Manila’s Cyberzone when I came across the Globe booth just outside the Globe concept store. I tend to get flyers and leaflets about their new products just to be in the know what their new offerings are. So, I saw this ad posted on their booth about a beep card that they are offering Globe subscribers that can also be used for cashless online shopping and as a ticket for the LRT/MRT. It is called GCash beep MasterCard. I already have a prepaid card from BPI (which is also a MasterCard) that I use whenever I don’t have cash on hand to purchase stuff at the mall, but what encouraged me to get the GCash beep MasterCard as well is that it can be used when I ride the MRT or LRT.

The process is simple. You just have to fill out some forms, have your picture taken, have an ID verified and do some registration through text that will be instructed to you by the Globe staff at the booth (don’t worry if you haven’t topped up your phone, you can do the process without load). After that, you just need to bring your personal information slip to the customer service staff inside the concept store and wait for your card to be activated. In less than 30 minutes I was able to get my GCash beep card with my name printed on it. It cost me 150 pesos.
I haven’t used it as I have yet to cash-in (fund) the account. Since it is GCash and I was told by the staff that it is associated with my Globe number, I can just use my Globe number to be able to deposit funds if I plan to do so via 7-11, the Globe Store, SM Department Store, Villarica Pawnshop and Bayad Center among others. The GCash beep MasterCard can also be funded through bank deposits at BPI branches or through online bank transfers.
So, right then and there I received my GCash beep MasterCard kit with a freebie of Globe sim card inside. 🙂
